Construction Superintendent (Scaffolding)


Job Purpose

 Provide front line safety and technical leadership. Ensuring safe effective and efficient execution of scaffolding activities in accordance with the project schedule and compliance to safety, quality and technical policies procedures and standards.

 Providing technical support to all company functional teams within an assigned construction division and geographical area. Provide technical guidance to assure Contractor compliance during planning and execution scaffolding operations.

 Interfaces with other project and construction area teams removing progress constraints, sharing lessons learned and executing corrective actions. Lead and promote a one team approach to attain Company objectives.

Reporting and Relationships

 Reports to NFS Site Manager.

 Direct reports: None.

Internal

 Frequent contact with Construction Manager, Project Planners, SHES Division Managers, heads, Leads and Advisors, Discipline Superintendents, Commissioning Managers.

 Periodic contact with Interface Managers, Logistics manager, Business Division Manager, Quality Heads and head of Materials and preservation.

External

 Frequent contact with EPC scaffolding SMEs ', EPC Area Construction Managers, Superintendents, SHES Managers, and Advisors, Superintendents and Supervisors.

 Periodic contact with EPC Logistics manager, quality heads.


Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

 Work in a highly visible project environment managing safe schedule delivery within lump sum contractual framework.

 Managing leading and communication with multi-cultural teams with diverse cultures and behaviours.

 Manage large area-based construction scope ensuring effective management of contractor including external and internal interfaces.

 Multiple technical and non-technical interface requiring working with a large EPC Contractor, organized as a Joint Venture requiring close coordination and interaction.

 Lead direct and influence EPC contractor in all issues related to construction activities to assure delivery of the project milestones to achieve schedule.

 Achieve a smooth and flawless construction execution to Mechanical completion.

 As defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/or approved budget.

Key Job Accountabilities

1. Demonstrating visible safety leadership and care for people.

2. Act as the Company focal point for Scaffolding matters including approval of related documents submitted by Contractor.

3. Ensures all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company and contractually defined policies, regulations, and standards.

4. Apply contractual awareness protecting the Company position when engaging with Contractors on schedule, technical and cost issues.

5. Ensuring contractors ongoing competency processes and procedures are compliant to Company requirements and Qatar government regulations.


Key Job Accountabilities

6. Ensuring contractors ongoing competency processes and procedures are compliant to Company requirements and Qatar government regulations.

7. Review and recommend improvements to ways of working, procedures and plans ensuring effective and smooth project execution.

8. Participate in constructability and construction readiness reviews identifying improvement opportunities with contractor team.

9. Undertakes daily walk-through of construction areas, confirming safety standards are maintained.

10. Review, approve and audit as required Contractor's scaffolding plans, procedures, method statement, PTW and task instructions, Attend activity planning and risk assessment meetings.

Minimum Requirements


Qualifications

 Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering

 Discipline recognised industry trade qualifications e.g., NVQ/City &Guilds, NACE, CITB/CISRS etc certifications issued by Internationally Recognized bodies

Knowledge and/or Experience

 8 Years Experience with Large Projects in Construction Related Disciplines (E.G., Construction, Installation, Fabrication, Execution, Completion, Hook-Up, Etc.) In The Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 Year of Experience in A Supervisory Role, Including Acting Roles, Or Oversight of Service/Vendor Personnel.

 Experience with Oil and Gas companies, contractors, service companies, or heavy construction companies.

 Knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to major fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up, as applicable to the project scope.

 Knowledge of onshore facilities, or yard operations as applicable to a project scope.

 Knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with sour gas and LNG production facilities.

 Experience working in large scale operating organizations in Operations, Projects, Subsurface, etc.

 Demonstrate extensive experience in scaffolding operation in onshore Greenfield environment.

 Demonstrates sound written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.

Technical and Business Skills

 Ability to work within document control systems reviewing, consolidating, and approving technical and project documents.

 Ability to read and translate project schedules.

 Ability to read and translate approved for construction drawings.

 Ability to use (Read) Navis works (3D model)

 Ability to prepare, approve, verify scaffolding plans.

 IT literacy: Word, Excel, PDF, skills to support reporting, reviewing and communication requirements.
