Instrument & Control Engineer


Job Purpose


  • Provide instrument & control system engineering technical support to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of equipment installed offshore in accordance with established policies and procedures that contribute to the department objectives and are in alignment with the company strategy.

    Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

    • Serve as a technical resource, operating in a technical environment with interface with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
    • Major challenges of the role are: (1) participate in RBWS, trouble shooting of the problem associated with the instrumentation and control system and equipment and provide the requisite support to the offshore team (2) participate and contribute to the Risk Screening and Formal Risk Assessment process for the control system and allied works (may include engagement with Major Project expansion reviews). (3) work independently on broad assignment related to instrument and control engineering discipline guided by company objectives and professional engineering standard covering offshore facilities (4) participate in obsolescence management process for the critical spares associated with instrument and control engineering equipment.




    Key Job Accountabilities



  • Provide Instrument and Control engineering support to offshore operations and maintenance for RBWS, day to day troubleshooting including Level-2 complexity Issues and PM/CM activities as per maintenance strategies to ensure the compliance of the business requirement.
  • Contribute to raising eMOC's which require studies, support engineering in feasibility study and Implementation of EMOC recommendations to the asset instrumentation team to meet with the compliance requirement of specification.
  • Participate in development of the Equipment Strategies, RCFA studies, Risk Screening/FRA, Bad Actor Studies to ensure the compliance of the policies and technical requirement in outlined proposed technical task.
  • Ensure close collaboration with offshore maintenance, workshop, engineering and Project Management department for the timely close out of outstanding maintenance activities and the process review and development of maintenance procedures.
  • Perform technical evaluation of material initiated for procurement including routine, non-routine and shutdown activities to ensure availability of right quality and specification of the material on time.
  • Participate in establishing a demand plan for the contracts activities and contribute to establishing the scope of work for the complex contracts for Instrument & Control Maintenance activities including post contract award process to ensure the compliance of business procedure.
  • Review and monitor the obsolescence of instrumentation spares and equipment to ensure business continuity and minimize operational risk.
  • Understand and implement all required procedure for instrumentation and control engineering maintenance activities to ensure the compliance of the maintenance requirement and standard.
  • Participate in the maintenance quality verification program for the department to meet with the outlined procedural requirement and safe operation of system.
  • Understand and utilizes the relevant Qatargas management control systems to ensure the compliance of the business system.

  • Minimum Requirements


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Science majoring in Instrument and Control System Engineering.

    Knowledge and/or Experience

    • 4 years' experience in an instrumentation & control system environment in oil and gas or petrochemical sector in established Engineer position.


    Technical and Business Skills

    • Computer literate and competent with variety of engineering software tools.
    • Fluent in English language (demonstrated verbal and written skills).
    • Computer literate, knowledge in SAP Maintenance and Material management system.
    • Experienced in preparation and review of scope documents for Maintenance activities and external service requirement.
    • Conversant with policy and procedure, standards and specifications of Company, national and international bodies.
